Ben Bruce: Want to Sound Fresh on Album From Death to Destiny
Ben Bruce : Want to Sound Fresh on Album From Death to Destiny - While
From Death to Destiny hasn't been released yet, many Asking Alexandria fans
are waiting for him.
Even more so when they've listened to 'Run Free' and 'The Death of Me'.
Asking Alexandria guitarist Ben Bruce said they wanted to bring something new
and fresh.
Without changing their old essences and material-material that have become the
main characteristics of this band.
In his interview with Loudwire, Ben Bruce said:
"We wanted to be something fresh and still sound like Asking Alexandria, which
is quite challenging,"
"People always say, 'I hope you sound like the first album.' But we'd be
terrible if it was like that and you'd get tired of listening to it over and
over again. There's a thin line keeping your voice, but it's also forward to
being happy and confident as a musician."
He also said that in the process of making the song, Asking Alexandria still
uses old methods and formulas.
"I'm the lead songwriter. I wrote the music and then passed it to James
(Cassells, drums) and he arranged the parts. Then we'll take it to Danny
(Worsnop, vocals). So in that aspect, it's very similar to previous releases.
The difference is that it took us over a year to write this album because we
didn't just want to repeat our last two releases."
The album From Death to Destiny was released on August 6, 2013, under the
Summerian Record label and produced by Joey Sturgis.
Before that, they had already released several singles before the official
album. Among them "Run Free" on 13 August 2012, "The Death of Me", and a third
track "Killing You", were released in March 2013.
Although there have been many positive responses to the album, many have also
given negative reviews, especially to music critics.
Set on AllMusic, the album shows the maturation of musical styles from Asking
Alexandria. The album From Death to Destiny looks more of a post-grunge
influence, a more personal Hard Rock album than the band. They completely
abandoned the simple metalcore "girls and drugs." Even more, presents smooth
metalcore.
Meanwhile, Album From Death to Destiny scored 76/100 from Metacritic.
